Openings on our Roster are extremely limited. The AAA-ICDR only recruits individuals who have expertise in areas that align with the types of cases the AAA-ICDR administers. Consequently, even candidates with strong credentials may not be added to our Roster.
The AAA is committed to recruiting only the most qualified and exceptional arbitrators – possessing judicial capacity, temperament and extensive industry knowledge, experience and acceptability to parties. Candidates applying to the roster are typically prominent in their fields and have subject matter expertise in areas where arbitration is often used as an alternative form of dispute resolution.
Qualified mediators are the heart of the mediation process and the AAA is committed to offering a Panel of Mediators in which parties can have the utmost confidence. For this reason, we have established the following minimum qualification criteria applicants must meet in order to be considered for acceptance to the AAA’s Panel of Mediators.
Because of the breadth of the AAA-ICDR's work and the global reach of its services, we recognize the importance and contribution of a diverse Roster of Neutrals, and we are committed to respect and increase diversity in all our endeavors.
The AAA-ICDR continues its multi-year undertaking to augment the gender and ethnic diversity of its Roster of Arbitrators and Mediators and increase diverse appointments to hear cases. Executives across every division and region of the organization actively recruit women and racially and ethnically diverse candidates who meet the criteria established for the AAA and ICDR panels.
As of the end of 2023:

Joining the AAA-ICDR Roster of Neutrals offers significant benefits. AAA-ICDR panelists possess expertise in specific areas of their disciplines and engage in ongoing education in ADR practices. As a panelist, you gain exclusive training opportunities that are available only to members of the Roster. These programs focus on developing skills to manage dispute-resolution processes fairly and efficiently, emphasizing time and cost-effectiveness.
It's worth noting that while the AAA-ICDR provides these exclusive training opportunities, it does not certify arbitrators or mediators. Being certified is not a prerequisite for membership on the Roster.
